CORONAVIRUS VS UNEMPLOYMENT: Will Shattered Economy Cause More Suffering than the COVID-19 Pandemic?

President Trump said in March that we cannot let the cure for coronavirus be worse than the pandemic itself. Senior economic advisor for FreedomWorks, Stephen Moore, tells Glenn why shutting down the American economy for an extended period of time could be associated with MORE lives lost than COVID-19 (200,000 more lives, if we reach the predicted 25% unemployment rate). Meanwhile, Russia and Saudi Arabia are doing everything they can to destroy US independence in the energy industry, transportation business is down 45 percent, and the car industry will likely need a federal bailout to suvive.

And, here are the rest of your daily coronavirus numbers:
-Worldwide cases are now at 872,000, up from 799,000 yesterday.
-Fatalities are up from 38,000, now at 43,271 worldwide.
-America leads the world in case count (188,000), but Italy leads in lives lost.
-11 percent of US cases require hospitalization.
-The U.S. does NOT lead in cases per capita (we're 24th): we have 507 cases per one million citizens, but Spain has over 2,000 per one million citizens.
-The U.S. also does not lead in fatalities per capita: we're 28th with 12 fatalities per one million (Italy is at 206).
