Gynecomastia terms signify the increase in size of male breasts. This condition occurs when there is increase in level of estrogen hormone in males as compared to the level of testosterone hormone. Some other causes of Gynecomastia are obesity, alcohol intake, thyroid abnormality, liver disease, cirrhosis etc. Some people think that Gynecomastia is just the chest fat which will go on its own with time mainly when the individual enters his adolescence. But in some cases the chest fat doesn’t go on its own. Lets understand the difference between chest fat and Gynecomastia .One of the major difference between Gynecomastia and chest fat is the fatty mass which causes swelling of the chest region. The following are the differences between Gynecomastia and chest fat.
Gynecomastia
It is caused due to the growth of excess breast or glandular tissue, in this glands are mixed with fat
Gynecomastia can only be reduced surgically.
In some case the hard lump located below the nipple can also extends beyond the border of areola
It is caused due to deposition of fat in the surrounding areas of nipple
The mass surrounding Gynecomastia is tissue which is firm irregular and sometimes it is painful on touch
Chest fat
The matter accumulated in chest fat is always soft ad painless
Soft lump is seen in the entire breast region and it is mainly seen in obese and overweight person
If chest fat is not severe it can reduce by doing diet and exercise
