Sirpur - The Ancient Smart City ||  सिरपुर Incredible Chhattisgarh || Indian History Sirpur is a village in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh. It is situated 78KM from capital Raipur, on the bank of Mahanadi River. Mahanadi is backbone of Chhattisgarh state.

Sirpur is considered to be the oldest smart city of ancient India. Sirpur was capital of Panduvanshu dynasty in ancient times. Sirpur has many Jain, Hindu and Buddhist Monestries, these are dated from 5th to 12th century.

This fully developed smart city was ruined by earthquakes followed by flood near 12th century.
It was later on excavated by Archeological Survey of India.

Located at the bank of Mahanadi river, this historical site still have innumerable monuments and unexcaveted structures. This inducates the height of its glory.
