Here are some easy DIYs that you can make with things you find around the house. Life has changed a lot for everyone this year and I think that new DIYs should revolve around simple, budget materials and flexible substitutes. The trend for those "excessive" Youtube DIYs (spending $$$$ on random crap, filling swimming pools with stuff, wasting kilos of food etc) is definitely over and fairly tasteless in the current situation.
I do realise that using edible ingredients is controversial as well, however I feel the play doh recipe in this video uses an acceptably small amount of flour & salt. I tend to prefer buying supplies myself from the few shops that remain open, rather than ordering non-essential things online (eg brand name play doh) which potentially puts more people at risk in the packing/shipping/delivery process. But of course, many small businesses are reliant on online sales so it's a tricky topic to navigate right now!
♥ Substitute List ♥
POLYESTER STUFFING: Cotton Wool (Pharmacies), Cushion Filler (at Home)
NOSE AND EYES: Beads, Buttons, Black Fabric, Dark Nail Polish, Glue mixed with Eyeliner, Glue mixed with Eyeshadow
FLOUR: Any type works including cornstarch/cornflour
OIL: Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil. If there's no risk of it being eaten, then you can also use non-edible oils like baby oil, massage oil, hair oil etc.
CREAM OF TARTAR: Skip this if you don't have it
FOOD COLOURING: Again, if you're not making this for a toddler then you can use non-edible colour like paint, ink, eyeshadow pigment, liquid eyeliners. Avoid nail polish as that will change the texture
