Hello Kingston. Our community has been working really hard at physical distancing over the last few weeks to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, but it's taken a real toll on our physical and mental well-being. That's why our local public health officials have been encouraging us to get outside and get some fresh air and exercise as long as we maintain at least a 2 meter distance from others. That's why I'm delighted to be able to share the news that the trails at our conservation areas, like here at Little Cat Creek and Lemoine Point, will be reopening as of this Saturday. Picnic tables, park benches and washrooms will remain closed but trails will be open for walkers, cyclists, and joggers. It's important that everyone continues to practice physical distancing, avoiding group gatherings and maintaining at least a 2 meter distance from others both on the trails and in the parking lots so that we can keep our conservation areas open and safe for everyone to enjoy. We must remain cautious and vigilant but because of our commitment to physical distancing we are through the first wave of COVID-19. As our Chief Medical Officer of Health put it, Kingstonians deserve some positive news after working so hard to follow public health instructions over the last few weeks.
