A new system where people can start to meet their family and friends again may be announced later this week. The idea of ‘bubbles’ of up to ten people from one or two households being allowed to socialise is one of the first measures aimed at opening up the economy and supporting people’s mental health. The new system may allow families to meet for meals, and for couples separated by the virus to meet up. People would have to draw up a list of up to 10 people to be allowed to meet with, however, they should only be from one or two households.
Current rules allow for no social meetups whatsoever, with people being urged to stay inside and only go out for essentials or exercise.
