In today's vlog video I'd like to explore the topic of whether during the Viking Age it was possible for people from Scandinavia it would have been possible to understand the Anglo-Saxon English. Framed linguistically this question is whether or not Old English and Old Norse were mutually intelligible with one another? I will point out that Jackson Crawford has made a very good video on the topic which looks at other sources of evidence and I'll link below should you be interested to explore this area further as well as some of my own videos on similar topics.
